Online GP Service Australia
1GP is an online GP service that connects patients across Australia with AHPRA-registered doctors by phone or video. Whether you have a new health concern, need a medicine reviewed or want support with a long-term condition, you can speak with a doctor from home without travelling to a clinic.
Where it is clinically appropriate, your doctor can provide an eScript, medical certificate or referral, sent to your phone or email after your consultation.

1GP is an online general practice based in South East Queensland, providing telehealth consultations to patients across Australia. Our aim is to make accessible, clinically sound general practice care easier to reach, wherever you are.
Telehealth can make it much easier to see a doctor if you live in a regional, rural or remote area, have limited transport or mobility, or are juggling work, study or caring responsibilities. There is no waiting room and no travel. You simply speak with your doctor at the time you have booked.
Telehealth is not the right fit for every health concern, and we are upfront about that. If you need a physical examination or in-person care, your doctor will tell you and help you work out the right next step.
How 1GP works
Seeing a 1GP doctor online takes four simple steps.
- Book your appointment. Choose a time that suits you, and let us know whether you would prefer a phone or video consultation.
- Share a few details. Complete a short health intake covering your symptoms, medical history and current medications, so your doctor can prepare for your consultation.
- Speak with your doctor. At your appointment time, your doctor will talk through your concerns, ask about your health and confirm your identity and Medicare or Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) details where needed.
- Receive your care. If a prescription, medical certificate or referral is clinically appropriate, it will be sent to you by SMS or email. Your doctor will also explain any next steps, including whether you need follow-up or an in-person review.
The care we provide
Our doctors provide a range of general practice services by telehealth.
- Online GP consultations for everyday health concerns, new symptoms and medical advice.
- Online prescriptions and eScripts, including repeat prescriptions for ongoing medicines when a review shows they remain suitable for you.
- Medical certificates for work, study or carer’s leave, following an assessment of your circumstances.
- Pathology and radiology referrals for blood tests, imaging and other investigations.
- Specialist referrals when your health needs input from a specialist.
- Chronic disease management for ongoing review and support with long-term conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma.
Every prescription, certificate and referral is issued at your doctor’s clinical discretion and cannot be guaranteed before your consultation. Some medicines, including Schedule 8 medicines, cannot be prescribed through 1GP. Your doctor will explain their decision and your options.

1GP consultations are provided by Ahpra-registered doctors who share a commitment to patient-centred care. You can check any doctor’s registration on the public register of practitioners at ahpra.gov.au.
Between them, our doctors speak English, Tamil, Spanish, Portuguese and French, so you may be able to talk through your health in the language you are most comfortable with.
Our approach to safe telehealth care
Telehealth works well for many health concerns, but it has limits. Your doctor cannot physically examine you over the phone or on a video call. If your symptoms need an examination, an in-person test or urgent assessment, your doctor will tell you and recommend where to go, whether that is your regular GP, a local clinic or a hospital.
1GP is not an emergency service. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of a stroke or any other life-threatening symptoms, call 000 immediately or go to your nearest emergency department. If you are in crisis and need to talk to someone now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Working alongside your regular GP
1GP can support your care whenever seeing your usual doctor in person is not practical. Because telehealth works best as part of ongoing care, we encourage you to keep your regular GP informed. With your consent, your 1GP doctor can share relevant information from your consultation with your regular GP or other health professionals involved in your care.
